Kaiser Permanente was established in Fresno in 1994 and approached Summit Software to assist them in Software related projects.
The initial phase included creating specialized custom training classes for department managers and chief physicians. While working with the staff to evaluate the workflow processes, they established solutions that utilized a variety of technological tools. This unique approach led to the creation of specialized custom database management programs.
The benefits of Summit’s services and programs were quickly recognized by other Kaiser facilities located throughout Northern California. Summit spent several years working with these other medical centers, and many of these programs are still being used today.

These solutions range from applicant tracking/job postings database to the management, tracking and reporting for the Medical Legal Cases. In several cases, Summit also performed as a project manager for a variety of different projects. One example was when Summit hired a programming firm in the Bay Area, for a facility wide Lotus Notes application that is still in use today. This application notifies the managers of license renewals for staff via email, as well as provides the necessary reporting requirements.

Early Childhood Development Tracking
Fresno Unified School District has been a client of Summit Software since 1992. Summit created a database application for The Early Childhood Development Department in 1999.
This program, tracks student enrollment, attendance and general demographics. The reporting functionality allows the staff to deliver essential information in a professional format to management.
In the late 1990’s Summit worked directly with The California Department of Education to implement a statewide electronic filing process. This electronic filing feature uploads their monthly totals to ensure timely payment to their department.
With the advancement of web technology, Summit was able to create a fully functional web application that will be in use within the year. Along with many advantages of a web based application, each school site can scan attendance, eliminating hours of manual administrative work for the teachers and more time for the students.

In 2006, Summit Software was presented with an opportunity to work with trucking companies that manage deliveries for a large U.S. Manufacturer.
Delivery operations in their original form were often disorganized and hard to manage on a day-to-day basis. There was a large amount of manual data entry to facilitate routing the trucks and creating their receivables.
Summit built a revolutionary application that utilized the downloading electronic files provided by the vendor, thus eliminating any data entry or duplicate entry. This application streamlined the workflow processes for delivery routing trucks, monitored incoming and outgoing inventory, and reduce the amount of damage and accidents to products by staging the order prior to loading.

The program was implemented in several companies through out California and Washington. One client reported annual gross revenue of 2.5 million after beginning use of the software. Due to this increase, they were able to open additional locations resulting in several million dollars of growth.
One of the most visible savings for the companies is based on reducing man hours, after the original installation of the routing and accounts receivable modules; one of the clients calculated a savings of $56,500 annually.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health
Summit Software has always had a close relationship with the community and not for profit businesses. It was this close relationship that drew Summit to a local Substance Abuse and Mental Health Institute to help develop business organizing software.
Before Summit’s involvement, the Institute was tracking all it’s client data on Excel Spreadsheets and Word documents. Summit developed an application that was not only able to track all data and generate daily reports, but also reduce office management and overhead costs.
Because of the advantage Summit provided, the Institute was able to obtain more funding and have drastically improved working relationships with funding agencies.

About 10 years ago, when a local federated marketing company needed a new system for managing their core business functions they came to Summit.
Summit was charged with the task of not only creating a software application for document management, but becoming domain experts of this industries export business. The company was small so Summit created a Microsoft Access Database where one user was able to enter and process orders.
Several years later Summit received a call that the organization was growing and they needed help with their database. After reviewing the once agile database, Summit realized it had clearly been tampered with by less professional designers and made practically inoperable. The amount of time it took for the 3 users to do their jobs was unrealistic. Summit went to work, again...

The resulting web application was tailored to the needs of the now 25 users, to create an engaging and user friendly experience. The new application has consolidated the 900 reports to 70 totally functional reports with no redundancy.
This application is a complete solution for this company and accommodates over 200 countries and process over 15 million dollars of gross revenue.
